How to Write, Edit, Remove, Respond To and Upvote Posts in Communities

Once you've set up your personal profile within your Community, you're ready to write your first post.

Posts are the heart of content within Community. Posts allow you to share best practice, supplier insights and guidance with your peers. Posts can also be responded to start conversations, and upvoted if you think they're useful to other members of the community.

This article will explain how to do all of the above.


How to Write a Post

To start writing a post in the Community Page, simply navigate to the top-right corner of the screen and select the 'Create Post' button:

Clicking on this button will open the following window:

From here, you'll need to give your post a title and select a topic area for your post to fall under.

πŸ’‘ A Topic is simply what area of the platform your post pertains to.

Clicking on the drop down will provide you with a list of potential topic areas, shown below:

Once you've given your post a title and selected the topic area, simply navigate to the 'Post' button in the bottom corner of the box and click it:

Once you've clicked 'Post', you will be directed back to the main Community screen and your post will now be there!

How to Edit a Post

You may realise once you have posted in the Community that you need to edit your post. This could be for any number of reasons, for example spelling or grammar errors.

To edit a post, first, click into the post itself so you are greeted with this view:

You'll see a button in the top right-hand-corner of the screen saying 'Edit Post'.

Click into this and this will bring up the following screen, where you can make the necessary edits to the title, topic or description of the post:

Once you've made the necessary edits to the post, simply click 'Save Edits' at the bottom of the box.

Once this is done, the post will be relaunched in the community page with your edits included.

How to Remove a Post

If for any reason, you would like to remove a post from the Community, you'll need to navigate again to the top right-hand-corner of the screen when clicked into the post itself. Next to the 'Edit Post' button you'll see a red icon shaped like a rubbish bin:

Click on this icon, and this will bring up the following prompt asking you to confirm your choice. Simply click the red 'Yes, delete' button:

Once this is clicked your post will be removed from the Community. You will see a green pop-up notifying you 'Post Deleted' and you will not longer see it on the Community screen

How to Respond to a Post

At the heart of Community is conversation. You'll see posts in the different topic areas of the Community that prompt you to start a discussion, or give your own personal insight.

To respond directly to a post in the Community, first click into the post. At the bottom of the screen, you'll a text box with greyed-out text saying 'Start a reply...' :

Click into this box, and write your reply. Once you've written your reply, simply click the green 'Reply' button:

Once you've clicked reply, you'll be taken back to the post itself. You'll be able to see your reply has appeared underneath it:

How to Upvote a Post

Finally, we're going to walkthrough how to upvote a post. You can upvote a post in the community for a number of reasons. Perhaps you agree with what's been posted, or you found the information insightful and want to push it higher up the Community feed for other members.

To upvote a post, simply find the blue up-arrow on the post itself:

Once this is clicked, the number will move up by 1, indicating that your upvote has been registered.

When you first write a post, you will automatically upvote your own post to get the upvotes flowing!
