How do I search for organisations?

This article explains how the search function works to find organisations who are on our platform.

Written by ish

Overview

Organisation search helps you quickly find suppliers and clients across the platform - even if you don't type the exact name.

It's designed to:

  • Reduce duplicate organisation profiles being created accidentally

  • Help you confidently pick the right organisation from similar results

  • Provide a consistent, forgiving search experience across both client and supplier views

  • Get you to the right place faster

How to open search

You can open organisation search anywhere you need to find or add an organisation - for example, when connecting with suppliers (client view) or looking up a client to connect with (supplier view).

  1. Open the search modal.

  2. Start typing an organisation name.

As you type, results update automatically:

What you can search for

Search supports "fuzzy matching", which means it can still find relevant organisations when:

  • You only type part of the name (e.g. "microso")

  • There are small typos or spelling differences

  • Formatting varies (e.g. "Ltd" vs "Limited", extra/missing spaces, abbreviations)

Where available, search may also match on related identifiers such as trading names or domains.

How results are shown

Results are shown as a single list, optimised for scanning, that updates in real time.

Ranking and relevance

Results are ordered by relevance rather than strict "exact match only" rules. This helps surface the most likely intended organisation at the top, especially when there are multiple similar names.

Identifying the right organisation

Search may show helpful metadata (where available) to make it easier to distinguish similar organisations and avoid selecting or creating duplicates.

If you see multiple similar organisations, use the metadata (such as location) and the organisation details to choose the best match rather than creating a new one.

Popular vs recently viewed

When you first open search (before typing), you may see quick lists to help you navigate faster:

  • Recently viewed: organisations you've visited recently.

  • Popular: organisations that are commonly accessed (helpful shortcuts for frequent items).

Once you start typing, these lists are replaced by live search results:

Connected vs not connected

Search can include organisations in different connection states.

  • Connected: your organisation already has an established connection (you can typically open the profile directly).

  • Not connected: your organisation is not connected yet (you can then open the organisation's profile to send a connection request):

If you can't find the organisation you need

No results

If no results are found, you'll see a "no results" message.

Before creating a new organisation, try:

  • Checking spelling (or shortening the query)

  • Removing legal suffixes or extra words (e.g. "Ltd", "Limited", "Group")

  • Searching by a distinctive part of the name

If you still can't find it, follow the on-screen option to create/add a new organisation (where available).

Loading results

If results take time to appear, you may see a loading state while we fetch matches.

Error loading results

If results fail to load, you'll see an error state. Try again after a moment, or refresh the page. If the issue persists, contact Support with:

  • What you searched for

  • Where you opened search from

  • Any error message shown
